Sports Day

Today was Sports Day at Eiwa. Turns out it wasn't actually at Eiwa though. They rented a full stadium to hold the day. It was fun, but kinda boring, because we were just sitting around for most of the day. I don't have many pictures to post, so I won't post any. Plus, I'm too lazy to upload them onto my computer.

The SMS girls participated in jump rope, relay race, dance (they "Hey Mickey" one we do to warm up in PE class here) and the cheers. We did the "How do you feel SMS?" one, because it was the only one we could think of in like a few minutes. The girls loved it, though, so that's good.

Since Sports Day wasn't at Eiwa, the shoe signing couldn't happen today, so tomorrow will be the day. I will probably be running around from classroom to classroom looking for the new friends I've made to sign my shoes. :)

After we were picked up from the train station, we went to a grocery store/pharmacy while we waited for Kanan to finish her Prep School class. I bought this powder deodorant spray (it works wonders!) and some candy and cookies for the flight home. I think I'm well stocked in that department now. :)

Our bags were taken to the luggage place today, so no more uniforms for the rest of the trip. I have some clothes in my carry on though, so I should be good. :) Yoga pants will work for school and the plane. I'll get my host family to wash them for me.

I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye, but I knew it was going to have to happen sooner or later. My family has been so kind to me, and I don't want to leave them behind!

Infinite x's and o's,

Purikura: A Story by Riley

Once upon a time, there were six lovely young ladies. They were clad in their uniforms, and were all in a jolly mood (except for one, who was very spastic). It was around the hour of one, and they were headed for a leisurely stroll to get "oot and aboot", accompanied by their teacher, Mr. Campbell. They were in search of the awe inspiring, fantastic Purikura Photo Booths.

They arrived at the mall in good time, and started their search immediately. They searched the mall high and low, but alas, there were no machines. The went to the mall beside it, but still, no Purikura Booths. They asked train-goers using their translators where they were, but it was no good. The searched the street, the Starbucks (where we got drinks), anywhere they could find. Finally, someone gave them directions. They followed their hand-drawn map, only to realize the arcade was a mere 250 metres from where they started. But still, the girls jumped for joy (literally) and began to have a grand time.

A short thirty minutes later, as they had spent the other two hours looking for the machines, they had heaps of pictures to show for what they had accomplished.

The End

~*~

So as you can tell from my amazing storytelling skills, we did Purikura five times (well I did at least), which means that I've done it ten times in total... So far. Mwahahahaha! :)

Anywho, today was actually pretty eventful. There's a new girl from Australia named Gwen who is here for I think a week? Not sure. She's sixteen and pretty cool. Love her accent, even though it isn't as strong as most. Will see her tomorrow at the Sports Festival.

Took some pictures of the school today, but I'll put them up later, because this post is long enough with the nine Purikura photos. :)

Worked on the TV show for a while tonight. Finally remembered to get the flip camera from Claudia. :) Almost done; just have to shoot a few more scenes first. Like the ending...

We made signs for the door to Room 143 (our room). Check it out:

For when we are in the room. It has a polar bear, a beaver, Justin Bieber and a pregnant, maple syrup drinking Celine Dion on it.
For when we are out. It says, "Oot and Aboot" on it, and has a lumberjack, a polar bear, a beaver, a Canadian flag and an evil penguin on it.

Obviously, we were joking about what a stereotypical Canadian is like.

That's all folks!

Shopping Madness

I went crazy today! After Church, we went out for Ramen Noodle, which was so delicious! I could have eaten the entire restaurant full! Or maybe not, but you get my point.

Afterwards, we went to three different "Kawaii" stores, including Hobbyon. The first one was boring. Reminded me of Pier One Imports, one of my mum's favourite home decor shops. Then we went to Hobbyon. They were having a one day sale, so I bought a train pass holder (only 10¥!!), an Elmo makeup case that I will probably use to keep my electronics in so they don't get all tangled and messed up in my purse (which is now the backpack I bought), and something else that I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go get since it's all packed away in my suitcase.

We went inside and I spent, like 5000¥ on stuff. Granted, each pair of headphones was over 1000¥ (I bought myself and my mum a pair. Mine are strawberries and Mum's are pink pieces of Lego). I also got some things for Emmi that I think she will like. I got a ton of folders, notebooks, pencils... Things like that. I love them all! So cute!

We went to another store where I bought this huge Elmo notebook for only 200¥, so I'm thinking I will use it for Social Studies, because I take so many notes in that class!

That's all for today.

Pictures from Fuji Q Highland

Here are the pictures from yesterday at the Fuji Q Highland:

Shion and Migiwa
Scariest roller coaster in the world!
No, we didn't ride it.
Where did you get your body from?
I got it from my mama!
The sexiest girls ever!
Yes, we waited 45 minutes to ride this thing.
EVIL HAMTARO!
We had tons of fun! Today, we have Church in the morning (we have to leave in like, half an hour) and then we're going shopping in the afternoon. I have to buy some things for my mum and sister, as well as for myself. :) We're going to Hoboyon (which is a total "Kawaii!" store), a hundred yen shop, and hopefully the AEON shopping mall. There are some things I want to buy there, as well as do Purikura with Shion one more time. :)

Talk to you later!

Fuji Q = Awesome Fun!

Mina, Migiwa, Shion and I went to the Fuji Q Highland today. It was so much fun! Went on tons of rides, but didn't go on any of the big coasters because the lines were literally two and a half hours long. No joke. Most rides we had to wait for a while. One of them for an hour and ten minutes just so we could go in a little raft for two minutes. Fun. :)

Pictures will be coming soon. Yes Emmi, I am in some of them, okay? Sorry this is short, but I'm really tired today!

Love,
Riley

Artsy Fun

We drove to a town called Somethingsomething, about an hour away from Fujinomiya. I got really queasy on the drive to the place, but as soon as I stepped outside and had some water I was fine. Literally, no one was there. It felt like a ghost town. First, we went into a glass shop, where Shion and I made paperweights and Kanan made a jelly candle thing. It was tons of fun, but I won't get my thing until after I'm back in Victoria. They said they will mail it down with a Christmas gift or something. I wasn't expecting a Christmas gift, so I guess I will get them all something too. Any suggestions?

Then we went to the pottery shop where Kenken made a pot of some sort. We only stayed for a little while, because we went into the paper shop where we each made five postcards. Like, we actually made the paper and decorated the post cards with ink and stuff. It was really easy, but we have none of the right materials at home. Darn!

Once back in Fujinomiya, we went to Shion's favourite clothing store. I bought a school bag because my backpack is huge and not so attractive (sorry, Mum). So I got a smaller one that is perfect for school here and for carrying books between classes in Victoria. It's blue, and checkered, my two favourite things mixed into one. :)

Afterwards, we went to a giant 100¥ store. I bought a pocket mirror, some stickers, some candy, some envelopes, and a notebook. I hope mum is happy that I am finally spending money. I still have so much Yen left! I have no idea what the hecksters I am going to do with it. Maybe I will have to go shopping some more. :)

Here are some photos from the photo shoot we had yesterday:

Here are some pictures from the Shrine we visited yesterday:

What is with me and jumping pictures?
Yes, we did climb all these.
From the top looking down.
Finally made it! Or did we? Nope. There were more around the corner.
Today, we ate lunch at a sushi restaurant (finally!). The food gets delivered to your table by a mini bullet train! How awesome is that?

That's all for today. Leaving comments makes me happy. I read them all. :)

Two School Days Later...

I didn't post anything yesterday because nothing of much importance happened. Same with today. We went to a Sengen Shrine for our LHR (long homeroom). We looked around for a while, some people bought stuff at the shop (I didn't). We saw some stairs that led up and up and up, so we decided to climb them. We finally got to the top of the 105 stairs (Catherine counted) and realized that they just keep going in a different direction. So we took them up for quite a while until we realized they were probably never going to end, so turned around and went down. We mush have walked up 300+ stairs! We got to the bottom and some random Japanese guys started clapping for us. No idea why, but whatever floats your boat. :)

Worked on the TV show for a while today, as well as had a photo shoot. I won't post any photos today because I don't know which ones people don't want up, as some girls didn't like some of them.

Manjit, the pancakes turned out perfectly! Thanks for asking.
